Biography
John Lloyd Temple was the son of James Temple and Rebecca Alice Reese. He married Martha Jane Allen in 1880. There is some confusion about his birth date and place. On his death certificate, his birth date is given as May 28, 1859, which is incorrect. It states he was born in Lycoming County, Penna. Some say he was born on May 29, 1860, in Benton, Columbia County, Pennsylvania, however when he was counted on the census taken on September 12, 1860, the family was living in Franklin, Lycoming, Pennsylvania and his age was written “1/12” (one month old), which would indicate his birthday was in August. He died in Lock Haven, Clinton County, Pennsylvania, on the 14th of October, 1937, at the age of 77, and rests at Stone Heap Cemetery (Franklin Bethel), in Franklin.
