Biography

There are mixed reports about the parentage of Lydia Mason, wife of John Seymour III, but all seem to agree that her father’s name was John Mason.

Massachusetts Vital Records contain a record of a marriage between John Mason and Hannah Hawes in Dedham, Mass., on the 5th of November, 1676.

As a point of interest, the Mason surname is of medieval French origin. It was originally used to describe a skilled stone mason who has reached the status of master craftsman.
