Biography

According to his son, Charles' death certificate, Levi was born in Massachusetts. There was a Levi Sherman (perhaps his father?) counted on the census in Boston Ward 6, Suffolk, Massachusetts, in 1820.

 

Levi's son, Charles, was born abt. 1860 in "Cascade, New York", and his mother's maiden name is illegible but appears to say "Eleanor Sport" and indicates she was born in Locke, New York. A look through the 1820 census of Locke revealed the only similar name found was Sparks. She died before 1865. On the census of 1865, he was age 51 and working as a Raftsman, living in Venice, Cayuga County with his daughter Maria, age 22.

  4. Adalaide Sherman b. abt. 1844
  5. Rufus Sherman b. abt. 1846, who married Mary Elizabeth Trim and had a daughter named Rosa who married into the Miner family.[2]
  6. Medora Sherman b. abt. 1849
  7. Reuben Sherman b. abt. 1851
  8. Marietta Sherman b. abt. 1853 (Was she the wife of Edward Rich? See Auburn Daily Bulletin, Tues. April 9, 1895).
  9. Charles August Sherman b. abt. 1859, married, fireman, died Apr. 23, 1925, in Elkland, TIoga, Pennsylvania, age 65.
