Biography
Lycenia Strong was born on October 22, 1850, in Greenfield Township, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania. When the census was taken in 1850, her family was counted in the census for the town of Asylum, in Bradford County, Pennsylvania. Lycenia was one of the five known daughters of Albert Strong (1819-1899) and Mary C. Newell (1812-1896). Her ancestry is well documented.
Lycenia married Oscar Mayo and had five known children: Lydia, Eliza, Lucy, May, and Alvin Mayo. In 1870 and 1880 they lived in Terry, Bradford County, Pennsylvania, according to the census. In 1900 they were living in Scranton, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania. In 1910 they lived in Clinton, Wyoming County, Pennsylvania. She died at the age of 76 on March 6, 1927, in Nicholson, Wyoming County, Pennsylvania. She is buried in Peckville, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania.
