Biography
Mercy Ruscoe was born abt. 1610, a daughter of Roger & Sarah Ruscoe of Sawbridgeworth. She married first to Richard Seymour, on April 18, 1631, in her hometown. He died in 1655 and she married second, on Nov. 25, 1655 to Hon. John Steele of Farmington, Connecticut. Steele was a prominent colonist and member of the upper house of the General Court of Connecticut.
According to Anderson's Great Migration Study Project, Mercy died after July 4 1668, as a record written by John Winthrop says he treated "Mrs. Steele, widow, 67 y. of Farmington". (Info found on Findagrave).
