Biography
Nancy (or Nancey) Wood was born in Vermont in August 16, 1786. She married John Brown and their daughter Julia Brown married Alpheus Stowell. Nancy died on May 16, 1862, at age 76 and is buried in Bemis Cemetery in Lisle, Broome County, New York. (Note: In "Ancestors of Julia Brown", p. 9, Nancy's death date is given as May 6, 1862. Her headstone, however, reads May 16, 1862). At Bemis Cemetery, there are two graves with initials only, opposite Nancy’s stone. One marked A.S. may be Alpheus Stowell, husband of her daughter, Julia Brown.
