Biography

Parthena Warner was born on Dec. 19, 1768 in Mansfield, Connecticut. She married Ezra Rood in 1788, and together they had ten or more children. Ezra died in 1829 and in 1838 she filed to receive his pension. She was approved to receive $80 per year until March of 1841. She married second on June 17, 1839, to Capt. Nathan Brown, who died June 4, 1849, and is buried in Brown Cemetery in West Winfield, Herkimer County, New York. In 1855, she applied to receive bounty land from the Bounty Land Act of March 3, 1855.

Parthena lived to the age of 95 years. She died on April 11, 1864 in Homer, New York. A beautiful monument marks the spot where she rests in Glenwood Cemetery in Homer, Cortland County, New York.
