Biography

Russel Leonard was said to have been born abt. 1808-1809 and married to a woman named Sophronia. He left Sophronia with two young children (Charles and Jenette) in 1833, with the intention of buying land in Michigan Territory and with the expectation of returning, however it appears that he did not return and nothing more is known of him. Did he travel on one of the packet boats on the Erie Canal?

Sophronia remarried to Thomas Knapp and had several children and died in 1883 in Moravia.

Children

Russell Leonard & Sophronia Burrill were the parents of my ancestor,
