Biography
Samuel Moody was born in Massachusetts in 1634. His was one of the sixty families at the meeting at Goodman Ward's house on April 18, 1659, where they agreed to form the town of Hadley. He married Sarah Deming in Wethersfield, Hartford County, Connecticut, in 1658. He died on September 22, 1689, in Hadley, at the age of 54 or 55. He is buried in Old Hadley Cemetery in Hadley, Hampshire County, Massachusetts. (Note: His son, Samuel Moody, Jr. (1670-1748) married Sarah Lane (1684-1759), causing some confusion for genealogists).

Samuel Moody Sr & Sarah Deming were the parents of my ancestor,
- Samuel Moody, Jr., born 28th of November, 1670 in Hadley, Hampshire County, Massachusetts, and married Sarah Lane . He died on the 10th of November, 1744, in Hadley, Hampshire County, Massachusetts. His wife, Sarah, was the daughter of Samuel Lane and Sarah Foote Dickinson. She was born on the 7th of May, 1680, in Suffield, Hartford County, Connecticut, died on the 22nd of June, 1759 in Hadley, Hampshire County, Massachusetts.
