Biography

Eleanor's maiden name appears as "Spark" or "Sport" on her son, Charles' death certificate. It also indicates she was born in Locke, Cayuga, New York. Possibly Samuel Sparks or Amos Sparks, counted on the census in Locke, in 1820. Both of their households had a young girl who could have been Eleanor in them.

According to a descendant on Ancestry.com, Eleanor's parents were Native Americans of the Seneca Iroquois Indian.

She died abt. 1861.

Children

Eleanor Sparks & Levi Sherman were the parents of my ancestor,

  1. James Sherman [Link]
  2. Charles August Sherman, born abt. 1860 in Cascade, New York. He was married to a woman named Mary Elizabeth Sherman and was employed at the Elkland Leather Co., when he died from pneumonia on April 23, 1925. He died in Elkland, Tioga, Pennsylvania, and is buried there.
