Biography

George Boone III was a Quaker settler from Wales, who came to America in 1717 and built a log cabin at Boonecroft. (See Boonecroft on Wikipedia). His grandson, Daniel Boone, was born at the nearby Boone Homestead.

George was born at Stoak, a village near Exeter, Devon, England, on March 19, 1666. He was a weaver by trade. They were living in Bradninch, Devonshire, in 1717, when they left and went to Bristol, from whence they sailed aboard the Shipping, arriving at Philadelphia on September 19, 1717 (O.S) or Oct. 10 (N.S.).
