Biography
Jacob Shaner was born on December 16, 1815, possibly in Germany or in Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. He married Mary M. Dugan and died at the age of 40 on July 3, 1856, in Pennsylvania. They had two known children: Effie Rachel Shaner and John Wesley Shaner. Jacob is buried at Fairview United Methodist Church Cemetery, Lairdsville, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. He had a brother named Philip and his mother is believed to have been Mary Stokner, although some say it was Mary Thaber who was born in Germany. Additional research needed.
