Biography

John Watson was born in 1616 in Harby, Newark and Sherwood District, Nottinghamshire, England. He was an early settler of Hartford, Connecticut, where he was a juror in 1644 and surveyor of highways in 1647. He took the Oath of Fidelity at the General Court in Hartford in May of 1645. He married Margaret Smyth before 1636 and died on June 4, 1650, in Hartford. He was 33 or 34 years old and is buried in the Ancient Burying Ground in Hartford.
