Biography
Robert Jasper Leonard was born on September 16, 1924, in Willet, Cortland County, New York. He was the son of Albert Jay Leonard and Rose Ellen Hollenbeck. He was raised on his mother's homestead on Leonard Road in Marathon. He married Ethel M. Daniels and was the father of several children. Robert worked for the Cortland County Highway Department for 29 years, retiring at the age of 56 due to poor health. He died two years later at the age of 58, on the 20th of November, 1982, in Cortland. He is buried in Marathon Cemetery in Section 34, Lot 13 but has no headstone.
