Biography

Sarah Rood was born on February 10, 1769, in Sturbridge, Massachusetts. (1768, according to Findagrave memorial?) She was the second wife of Benjamin Stanton, a soldier of the American Revolution, present at the surrender of Burgoyne. They were married in 1797 and had three children together, in addition to several he had with his first wife. He applied for a pension in 1832 and died in 1838 and Sarah applied for and was approved to receive his pension in 1848. She died in Moravia on June 1, 1854, at the age of 86. She is buried in the Quaker Church Cemetery in Moravia.
