Biography
William Hazard was the son of Caleb Hazard and Abigail Gardiner. He was born on the 12th of April, 1721, and was a licensed tavern keeper at Jamestown. He married Phebe Hull on the 12th of September, 1744. In her book, Robinson says the following of William: “He represented his town in the General Assembly in 1756, ’57, ’60, ’62, as Deputy; in 1768-70 he was Assistant. He was called Captain William, having been for a few years a sea-captain. His name is found in the Jamestown records as Councilman,-generally Chairman of the Council". William died in 1795 at Jamestown, Rhode Island.
