The town of Hampton was organized in 1786. It was taken from Windham, Pomfret, Brooklyn, Canterbury and Mansfield, The Congregational Church in Hampton was organized June 5, 1723, being at that time the church in Windham Village or Canada Society Church. Rev. Samuel Moseley was pastor from 1734 to 1791.
