Henry Leonard of Mentz, Cayuga Co. in 1820 and 1830, was born bet. 1761-1770 in ___. In 1820 the Henry LEONARD household in Mentz contained 7 people but did not contain any boys Russell’s age. It may be a different Henry as it appears the 1820 Henry was born. bet. 1776-1794. In 1830 there were 17 people in the house, 1 male under 5, 2 males 5-9, 2 males 10-14, 1 male 15-19, 2 males 20-29, 1 male 30-39, 2 males 40-49, 1 male 60-69, and five females, one of which was in her 50's and one in her 40's. (Henry falls into the 1761-1770 age bracket in 1830.) He was the owner of a foundry and machine shop, indicating probable relation to James LEONARD the Iron Master. (See p. 310 of History of Cayuga County by Storke). With a family so large, there should be more written record of their lives in Mentz.

His was one of the Leonard households in Cayuga County in 1820, with a boy fitting Russell Leonard's age.
