Charles Leonard of Perry, Genesee, New York in 1830.
**From the Schenectady NY Cabinet: "A Mrs. Leonard, wife of Col. Charles Leonard, of Perry, committed suicide, on Sunday last, by hanging herself with a skein of yarn suspended from a rafter of the house. Insanity is supposed to have been the cause of this rash and unnatural act. - Livingston Register, Sept. 8. 1824".
Possibly Charles born abt. 1782 who married Abigail (1787-1866) and had two known children, Lucinda (1821-1866) and Charles C. (1810-1847).
Found household of 8 in Perry in 1830 (a boy 5-9, a young man 15-19, a man 20-29, a man 40-49, a girl under 5, a girl 10-14, a woman 20-29, and a woman 30-39).
From Batavia NY Spirit of the Times 1830-1841: "Genesee Common Pleas: In the matter of the petition Rufus H. Smith, Charles Leonard, Calvin P. Bailey, Benjamin Gardner, John D. Landon, Anson Howard, Samuel Hatch and others, freeholders of the towns of Castile and Perry, in the County of Genesee, to regulate the fishing in the Little or Silver Lake, its Inlet and Outlet in the said towns."
The family is buried in nearby Pavilion. (Note: Arba BURRILL was living in nearby Pembroke in 1870. Arba had a daughter named Sophronia BURRILL and is believed to be a brother of Sophronia (BURRILL) Leonard Knapp, wife of Russel Leonard).
His was one of the three Charles Leonard households in New York in 1820.
