Russel Leonard in Poland, Chautauqua, New York in 1840 with a household of 4 people. A boy 15-19 (b. 1821-1825), himself 30-39 (b. 1801-1810), a girl under 5 (b. 1835-1840), and a woman 20-29 (b. 1811-1820). The boy appears to be a son named Russell as there was another Russell F. LEONARD in Chautauqua in 1860 (age 20) boarding with Mary Bond in Chautauqua (Mayville Post Office) and several others (no Leonard’s). Chautauqua is about 90 miles south of Lockport, where Charles was last heard from. Because this Russell’s son was born abt. 1821, it seems safe to assume he is not our Charles Russell Leonard, husband of Sophronia, as he was only about 13 years old in 1821 and must have married Sophronia abt. 1829, when he was about 21 years old.
