George Leonard's wife, Sophronia Loomis, was a daughter of Wait Loomis, of Torrington, Connecticut. Wait Loomis was born Nov. 23, 1765 and married Sarah Stone. Mr. Loomis had served in the American Revolution and died at Winchester, Connecticut, Feb. 25, 1849. Sophronia Loomis was born at Winchester, Dec. 28, 1800. She married George Leonard on March 1. 1827. [1] Wait Loomis died in 1849.[2]

In 1850, Sophronia "Sofronia" was in Litchfield, Winchester, Connecticut, age 50. Only her and son, George Leonard, age 20, born abt. 1830. Her will, dated Feb. 19, 1868, and probate records were filed at Hartford, Connecticut, and are available on Ancestry.
