The New England Historical and Genealogical Register

This is an excellent resource for researching early New England families. Archive.org and it's contributors have made it possible for you to easily read 50-years of their publications online (for free) and I've made finding the information you need even easier (still free)!

First, find the name in the index by clicking on the first letter of the last name you are researching. This will take you to the corresponding section of the index where you can browse the alphabetized list for the surname. If you see any matches, note the volume and page number. (See example below).  Write down the numbers and then return here to find the volume(s) you need.

Once you have found the name you are looking for, notice the numbers next to it in the index. (See the illustration at right for example and explanation).

The VOLUME number is in bold type and the page number follows it.

Find the corresponding VOLUME # in the list below. Click the link and then when viewing the book on-screen, simply scroll to turn the pages.

All volumes provided here are provided by Archive.org, unless marked with "*", in which case the book is found on Google Books.
