Mayo's Map of Northern Virginia 1737

Updated: Feb 4, 2019

An old map of northern Virginia, referred to as "Mayo's Map", was printed in "The Wilderness Trail". The map is entitled "The Courses of the Rivers Rappahonnock and Pawtomack, as surveyed according to order in the years 1736 and 1737". Two Shawnee villages are shown on the northern bank of the Potomac. The map was created by William Mayo.
