Archelaus Stowell was the 2nd great-grandfather of Mary (Harvey) Reese., via her paternal grandmother, Betsy A. (Stowell) Harvey. Archelaus' biography can be found on page 180 of "Stowell Genealogy". He was born on April 4, 1764, in Ashford, Windham County, Connecticut. Archelaus married Olive Bugbee, daughter of Timothy Bugbee and Hannah Wood, on November 4, 1791, in Ashford, Connecticut, and their union was blessed with six known children: Alpheus, Amasa, Alladuran, Mary, John and Nathan.
Archelaus died at the age of 87, on July 22, 1851, in Virgil, Cortland County, New York. He rests at Forest Hill Cemetery in Blodgett Mills, Cortland County.
