Life in Victorian Britain was hard on middle and lower class people. They usually worked long days in workhouses and factories or as servants for the wealthy. It was certainly a hard life with little reward. Watch how basic tasks were performed, from cooking to laundry and heating and lighting the home. Proper etiquette was enforced and social status determined much of what people were and were not allowed to do.
